27th SCCPS Annual Scientific Meeting:
Achieving Cervical Cancer Elimination Together

The SCCPS held its 27th Annual Scientific Meeting on 9 March 2025 at the National Cancer Centre Singapore, centred on the theme “Achieving Cervical Cancer Elimination Together.”
The meeting opened with remarks from Dr Timothy Lim and SCCPS President Dr Ida Ismail-Pratt, followed by a plenary lecture by Professor Karen Canfell, who spoke on strategies to achieve the WHO cervical cancer elimination targets by 2030. The programme featured a strong focus on Singapore’s national efforts to eliminate cervical cancer. Case-based discussions on HPV vaccination, screening challenges, and practical aspects of diagnosis and treatment, offered clinically relevant insights. The meeting concluded with the launch of the 2025 National Cervical Cancer Screening Guideline, reinforcing Singapore’s commitment to evidence-based screening practices.
A day earlier, on 8 March, Dr Quek Swee Chong led a hands-on colposcopy workshop that encompassed half a day of lectures on colposcopy basics, followed by practical stations in colposcopy, loop electrosurgical excisional procedure (LEEP), and cone biopsy. Participants appreciated the opportunity to practise essential techniques in a small-group, supervised setting, which made for an engaging and highly practical learning experience. This is a mandatory component to meet standards set by the SCCPS to be a registered colposcopist
This finally culminated with the 28th Annual Oration that evening where Dr Quek Swee Chong was invited to speak on his efforts to bring cervical cancer prevention to Ladakh, India since 2009 as part of the Himalayan Women’s Health Project through HPV vaccination, education, screening, and treatment.
